I want to get to know as many as my followers as possible, so if you have a chance send me a message :) I’d love to talk to you.
This video is great, but honestly I don’t think it’s right for this song. Primarily, it needs to feature the other band members more. Don’t get me wrong, I love Tom and enjoy all of the shots of him in the video ;) But all of the attention to Tom distracts from the meaning of the song. It’s about friends or lovers looking back to the time they shared during their youth. It’s not, however, about the 2012 Summer Olympics. Tom’s band mates grew up with him and should be featured just as much. With Jesse, Richard, and Tim’s near absence, the video loses touch with the youthful feel that I experience every time I listen to “Sovereign Light Cafe.” I am glad that Keane is promoting the Olympics. I did gymnastics for 15 years and am now a coach, so I do appreciate that aspect of the video. I also understand that having the Olympics in one’s own country is a big deal and can initiate feelings of patriotism that I think Keane fell pray to with the making of this video. Regardless, I think that the video should have been taken in a different direction. Maybe Keane will create an alternative version like they have done a few times before. But if not, I think I can live with the present video. It’s wonderful in its own way, and I did enjoy it even though I would change a few things if I had the chance.
Hello lovely people!
I’m just enjoying my afternoon coffee and biscotti while listening to the rain. To my future-meteorology-major-brother’s delight, it started hailing earlier. He sprinted downstairs to take pictures as soon as he heard the hail. Too funny.
I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I changed up my room a little bit. While sorting through some of my records the other day, I stumbled upon a Beatles poster that I decided to hang next to my bed. I also replaced the painting that my friend and I painted during the Virginia Snowpocalypse of 2010 with my piece of Tom Chaplin. I think it looks a lot better. I’ve also bought a few new decorative pillows. They’re mainly for my dorm room in the fall. I’m actually excited to go back. Hopefully this year will be a little less stressful than the last. Anyways, I’ll stop rambling now. I hope you all enjoy the rest of your evenings and weekends!
About a week ago, I mailed samples of my drawings to a man in need of an illustrator for a gardening book that he’s writing. On the phone, he said that there were a lot of other people who had called him interested in the job. He told me that he would contact the top three people. I received this letter in the mail today; I am one of those top three people. The drawings that I submitted were posted on my blog as I finished them. If you care to see them, just scroll down and take a look.

“Not that I condone fascism, or any -ism for that matter. -Ism’s in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an -ism, he should believe in himself. I quote John Lennon, ‘I don’t believe in Beatles, I just believe in me.’ Good point there. After all, he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. I’d still have to bum rides off people.”
